Czech Republic attracts German-speaking experts

The purpose of Czech Your Talent, a joint project of the Association of Business Service Leaders (ABSL), CzechInvest and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Berlin, is to help attract to the Czech Republic talented young Germans who can start their careers here at companies in the field of business services.

“English is considered to be the standard, alongside of which job candidates should be able to offer knowledge of other languages. A total of 31 languages are spoken in Czech centres,” said ABSL director Jonathon Appleton, adding: “Even though German previously ranked among the languages preferred by students, today the situation is different and companies are seeing a major lack of German-speaking candidates. Hundreds of such people could find work in our segment, which is why we decided to implement a campaign that has the objective of addressing graduates of German universities and offer them an interesting start to their careers in our business services centres.”

Foreigners comprise 33% of employees in business services and the centres thus offer a truly international environment. A point of interest for German-speaking candidates is that they can earn up to 15% more due to their language skills.

“Highly skilled positions with greater demands on language skills are arising in this sector. For further growth, we need to attract candidates from abroad, either from the ranks of students or people with experience who have command of foreign languages and want to work in an international environment, and working abroad is attractive to them. The Czech Republic has something to offer them – besides good jobs, that includes high quality of life, safety and, in comparison with Germany or England, significantly lower living expenses,” adds Karel Kučera, CEO of CzechInvest.

The campaign will culminate on 25 April 2017 in Berlin, where everyone who is interesting in the Czech Your Talent project will meet at the Czech embassy. During a single afternoon, those in attendance will be familiarised with life in the Czech Republic, the situation on the labour market and career opportunities in the business services sector. Employees of companies such as Johnson and Johnson, SAP Services, Siemens, ABInbev, Infosys, Kiwi.com and Accenture will share their experience.
