The MIXiii-BIOMED 2018 international conference and exhibition was held in Tel Aviv from 15 to 17 May 2018 as part of the 17th edition of the National Life Sciences and Technology Week. The event was attended by six thousand experts representing science institutes and firms in the fields of natural sciences, healthcare, biotechnology, diagnostics, pharmaceuticals and other related sectors. Roughly 20% of the attendees came from abroad. BIOMED is the most significant international event in this sector held in Israel.
The Czech Republic took part in the event as an exhibitor for the first time this year. The Czech national pavilion was set up with support from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tel Aviv and the agencies CzechInvest and CzechTrade. Seven Czech firms and science institutes – BIOCEV, Biopreparáty, Contipro, International Clinical Research Centre of St. Anne’s University Hospital in Brno, GCP-Service International, Quinta Analytica and the First Faculty of Medicine of Charles University – exhibited in the pavilion under the slogan "Czech Republic – Land of Innovation".
The organiser of the conference and exhibition placed emphasis on the commercial dimension of the event. In addition to the conference programme, panel discussions and roundtables, the event thus also featured online B2B partnering, via which it was possible to arrange meetings in a targeted manner. The Czech participants were therefore able in a short period of time to become familiar not only with a number of Israeli firms that are among the most successful in the given sector on a global scale, but also with a number of foreign participants.
