CzechInvest CEO Silvana Jirotková visited Washington and New York during her visit to the United States from 21 to 26 October 2018. She met with the Czech ambassador to the United States, Hynek Kmoníček, in the nation’s capital and while in New York she toured the famous stock exchange there and attended an investment forum organised by the Czech Republic and Slovakia at Bohemian National Hall on the occasion of the 100th anniversary of the establishment of Czechoslovakia. She also met with American firms that are already operating in the Czech Republic, as well as companies that are only now considering investing in the country.

“American investors are among the most important in the Czech Republic. With our support, by 2017 they had invested more than CZK 80 billion here, which is the third most behind only Germany and Japan,” says CzechInvest CEO Silvana Jirotková, CEO of CzechInvest, stating the importance of American investments for the Czech Republic. While in the United States, Jirotková is meeting with the most significant American investors in the Czech Republic such as GE Aviation, Yankee Candle, Honeywell and AT&T.

Jirotková’s visit to the United States began on 21 October 2018 in Washington, where she had dinner with Hynek Kmoníček, the Czech ambassador to the United States, and Vladimír Bärtl, deputy minister of industry and trade. Their meeting was focused on Czech-American trade relations and local cooperation between CzechInvest and CzechTrade.

On Tuesday, 23 October 2018, Jirotková visited the New York Stock Exchange and subsequently meet with current and potential American investors, colleagues in the area of Czech economic diplomacy and other partners at the CZ|SK 100 Years of Business investment forum at Bohemian National Hall in New York. The forum was held in commemoration of 100 years of Czech-Slovak-American trade relations and for the purpose of presenting opportunities and benefits of both countries for American investors. It was organised by CzechInvest and the Embassy of Slovakia in Washington with support from the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in New York, the SARIO agency and other partners.

Jirotková’s schedule also included a meeting with Czech start-ups that CzechInvest sent to New York in connection with its CzechAccelerator project. At the Venture Out incubator on 24 October 2018, she met with beginning entrepreneurs from the firms Spaceflow and Aputime, who have been gaining business experience abroad since September this year, and representatives of the start-up TouchArt, who previously had a stay in New York with their Eventee application.

This was Silvana Jirotková’s fourth trip abroad since being named CEO of CzechInvest in March this year, having previously visited Belgium, Japan and Germany.
