A total of eight Czech start-ups are developing their business in London, New York and San Francisco from September to November. With CzechInvest’s CzechAccelerator programme, start-up entrepreneurs are learning the specific features of foreign markets.

The start-ups Buildiro, Codeac, Ease Footwear and Woodcher are involved in the acceleration programme in London, where the companies are collaborating with the Impact Hub Kings Cross incubator. In the initial days of their stay, they are familiarising themselves with the incubator’s operation, attending several workshops and selecting mentors, who will advise them on their business during their stay. “The first workshop on presentation skills helped us to communicate the right information to the target audience. We are establishing contacts not only during networking events, but also during personal meetings,” says Michal Šimon, head of the start-up Codeac.

Four Czech innovative start-ups are gaining experience overseas. YMC is collaborating with the local partner VentureOut in New York, while Overax, Sensority and eParkomat are starting to build their American dream at the US Market Access Center incubator in Silicon Valley. “After two years on European markets, we want to take the next step. San Francisco, being a global innovation hub, was our first choice. Thanks to CzechInvest, we can spend three months there seeing the local style of doing business with our own eyes and comparing ourselves with the best start-ups in the field of the internet of things,” says Václav Kožený, director of Sensority.

The CzechAccelerator programme involves not only collaboration with a local partner that mediates contact with foreign mentors and consulting companies, but also participation in thematic workshops. CzechInvest also offers start-ups discounted admission to networking events and partial payment of the cost associated with their travel to the given destination.

Start-ups that are interested in participating in the CzechAccelerator programme have until 11 October 2019 to register for an acceleration stay in Singapore. Registration forms and more information are available at www.podporastartupu.cz.
