History and Track Records
Throughout its existence CzechInvest has already taken part in 771 investment projects worth over 18 billion dollars in total. Owing to these investments almost 154 thousand direct jobs are to be gradually created.
Traditionally, the strongest investors in the industrial sector come from Germany (26%) and Japan (18%), followed by Czech-based companies (13%). Apart from traditional branches, such as the automotive industry (46%) and electrical engineering (12%), we are recording an increasing number of investments in modern, innovative branches of industry (microelectronics, nanotechnology and biotechnology).
Since the Czech Republic's accession to the European Union, CzechInvest has also administered resources from structural funds. Through the Operational Programmes Industry and Enterprise and Human Resources Development, hundreds of millions of euros were distributed to entrepreneurs in 2004-2006. Grants worth over three billion euros from the new Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for 2007-2013 are being channelled to entrepreneurs as you read this.
To further promote the Czech Republic's investment and business environment, CzechInvest together with the Association for Foreign Investment established a joint project called Partnership to Support Foreign Direct Investment to the Czech Republic. Partnership in this case involves cooperation in achieving CzechInvest's aims and is open to all stable companies interested in supporting foreign direct investment and in taking part in improving the business climate in the Czech Republic.
With respect to the ever increasing demands on the quality of services, in 2004 CzechInvest undertook to implement its own system of quality management according to the requirements of ISO 9001:2000 norms. The agency underwent recertification in 2007 and was awarded the ISO 9001:2000 from Quality Austria with validity for an additional three years.
Other project aims are:
- to support the competitiveness of the Czech economy
- to create a space for communication between foreign investors, the state administration and Czech companies
In the course of its operation, CzechInvest has received several prestigious awards, including:
- Best Practices in Promotion 2004, presented by the steering committee of the World Investment Forum
