Instrumentation, Measuring and Control Equipment Devices

This industrial sector contains a wide variety of products that are intended for direct use or in a complete range of applications, production lines, machines and equipment. The technologically broadest segments are measuring and regulation instruments and healthcare technology. The sector demonstrates long-term revenue growth for products and services and ranks 18th in terms of the share of revenues of the manufacturing industry as a whole. The greatest revenue growth in absolute terms in the period 2000-2005 was recorded in the measuring and regulation instruments segment, which grew by CZK 9 billion in current prices. The greatest growth in revenues for proprietary products and services in the same period was achieved by optical instruments and photographic equipment segment, which grew by 94%. The sector's traditional workhorse, the measuring and regulation instruments segment, with growth of just under 59% was surpassed by the automation technology segment, which experienced growth of 69%.

With a 2.6% share in the manufacturing industry, the number of employees in the sector is more significant, ranking it 15th. The share of employees in the sector is the largest in the Central Bohemia region (13.9% - Siemens VDO and Linet, for example, operate in this region), in the Olomouc region (12.5% - the largest employers are Meopta - optics, and Invensys Appliance Controls) and in Prague (12.4% - e.g. Honeywell). In the period 2000-2005 restructuring was carried out in sector 33, leading to a potential highly qualified workforce of perhaps 2,561-3,450 in the sector.
