Medical Devices
Having a long and rich tradition, the Czech medical-devices industry is thriving (7% growth in 2005) with increasing volumes of total production and exports which satisfy customers' needs in roughly a hundred countries all over the world. Meeting the most demanding EU standards and driven by growing income, aging populations and proximity to the largest medical-devices markets in Europe, the sector represents very profitable investment opportunities.
Czech companies have developed strong expertise in a number of areas, including:
- hospital beds
- sterilizers including central sterilization
- ventilators
- anaesthetic devices
- x-ray equipment
- dental technology
- ambulances
- mobile hospitals
- orthopaedic and rehabilitation devices
- kitchen and laundry equipment
- technical gases and their distribution
The Czech medical-devices industry is supported by a network of science institutes and technical universities, whose specialized departments or even whole faculties concentrate fully on research and education in the field of biomedical and clinical technology and related areas. The Czech medical-devices sector thus offers comprehensive solutions, ranging from research and development to design and final production.
