R&D Cooperation
The Czech Republic has actively adopted the European objective of creating a Europe-wide Research Area with special emphasis on cooperation between representatives of public research institutions and industry. CzechInvest contributes to this objective through ongoing support of foreign direct investment into R&D and by facilitating the formation of international R&D partnerships between universities, research institutes and the private sector. CzechInvest engages in organizing special events and increasing public awareness of R&D activities and success stories in the Czech Republic.
The Czech R&D puzzle
Czech public research institutions represent infrastructure for basic research. However, over the past few years rapid growth of dynamic private research establishments has been recorded, especially with regard to applied research and development in the key sectors defined by theNational Innovation Policy of the Czech Republic for 2005-2010. This trend has been strengthened by the establishment of nearly 50 technology centres, science and technology parks and incubators, as well as by R&D collaboration within clusters. Each region has established Regional Development Agencies that help Czech companies innovate, especially find suitable partners and appropriate sources of funding. At the national level, this becomes the role of CzechInvest.
