During the spring 2006 CzechInvest organized a second meeting of Czech and Japanese government representatives with prominent scientists and deputies of the most forward-looking technology companies. The main objective of the Czech-Japanese Science and Technology Days was to present R&D in national development plans and policies and to create communication and cooperation networks. During the meeting successfull case studies (projects implemented in the CR - Panasonic AVC Networks Czech, Toyota Peugeot Citroen Automobile Czech) were presented to, among others, chief executives of Japanese companies such as Toshiba Corporation, NEC Corporation and Hitachi Ltd. During the event more than 120 participants (50 of them Japanese) were encouraged to create platforms for future Czech-Japanese cooperation in R&D.

The American view of new global competition, general myths about the innovation process, SBIR program for public-private-partnership and recommendations for the Czech Republic were presented by Charles W. Wessner, Ph.D. (Director of the Technology, Innovation and Entrepreneurship National Research Council, USA) in the symposium "Meeting The Global Competitiveness Challenge Through Innovation: Current U.S. Experience". The aim of the event, which was organized by representatives of Czech government and researchers at the Czech Technical University at the end of October 2006, was to share experience and transfer best practices in the innovation process.
