ON Semiconductor
The activities of ON Semiconductor in the Czech Republic are a perfect example how a foreign investor can utilize the potential of the local industry and human capital. On the basis of successful cooperation with the former Tesla Roznov Company during the first half of the 1990s, ON Semiconductor bought the Czech company. Currently more than 1,000 employees of ON Semiconductor Czech manufacture prime polished and epitaxial silicon wafers and a wide variety of analogue bipolar ICs. The company also runs the SCG Czech design centre, established in 1994, which, due to the expertise of the local staff and close cooperation with the ON Semiconductor fab in Roznov, became the ON Semiconductor's fastest growing design centre. Highly qualified engineers develop analogue and AMS integrated circuits, simulation libraries and design tools, and collaborate on the development of the company's global software projects.
Honeywell
Honeywell opened its first offshore R&D centre in Prague in 1993, cooperating with scientists from the CAS and CVUT in Prague. In January 2003 Honeywell selected Brno for its European technology centre and as a key Central European manufacturing base. The company's Aerospace Business Support Centre, which opened in Prague in 2006, will service Honeywell's multiple businesses with operations in EMEA. The Prague office will be staffed to support Honeywell's European technology initiatives including SESAR, More Electric Aircraft and Galileol.
Robert Bosch
Robert Bosch, spol. s r.o. České Budějovice is one of the fastest developing engineering firms in the Czech Republic. In 1992 the company built a completely new plant with the most modern equipment and infrastructure, with its own research and development department including a testing facility for long-term trials. Today the company's 2,000 employees participate in the production and development of components for passenger cars. The production programme comprises fuel-pump modules, induction modules, cylinder head covers and electronic accelerator pedals. The company's customers include almost all important European carmakers, as well as some Japanese, South African and Asian manufacturers.
