The Japanese firm Mitsubishi Electric Corporation is beginning construction of a new manufacturing facility in the complex of its subsidiary MITSUBISHI ELECTRIC AUTOMOTIVE CZECH in Slaný. During the ground-breaking ceremony on Thursday, 7 March 2019, the company announced that production will be focused on motors and invertors for electric vehicles. It is expected that the new factory will be put into operation in April 2020.

The company plans to invest nearly CZK 2 billion and create approximately 150 new jobs over the next three years. The new factor will enable firm to increase production of systems for electric vehicles, primarily key integrated starter generators for 48V hybrid vehicles, demand for which is expected to grow rapidly in the future.
