A Czech delegation of experts in the fields of optics, photonics, optoelectronics and laser systems carried out a mission to Japan from 21 to 25 May 2018. The mission was organised by CzechInvest and the Embassy of the Czech Republic in Tokyo for representatives of the companies Meopta and Crytur, the HiLASE research centre, the Charles University Faculty of Mathematics and Physics, the Czech Optical Cluster and the Technology Agency of the Czech Republic. The delegation visited the cities of Kyoto, Osaka, Hamamatsu and Tokyo, where they met with representatives of the companies Hitachi High-Tech, JEOL, Horiba and Shimadzu, the Industrial Research Institute of Shizuoka and Osaka University, and attended professional seminars.
Missions of a similar nature, the concept of which CzechInvest has long been developing, not only bring Czech experts together with foreign partners through targeted matchmaking, but also present the Czech Republic abroad primarily as a technology power. Optics technology ranks among the highly developed sectors in the Czech Republic in terms of research and innovation and is thus a logical choice for partnership with Japan, which is also a leader in the field.
