Students in Plzeň spend 54 hours in the role of entrepreneurs, create applications for young people

From 11 to 13 May 2018, the Robotics Centre in Plzeň hosted Startup Weekend Youth Pilsen, a three-day international hackathon-type competition involving 21 students aged 15 to 19 from the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland. Over a 54-hour period, the students set up teams, created prototypes of their concepts including a business model, conducted market research, verified their business plans and received feedback from experienced entrepreneurs, who not only advised the students, but also pointed out deficiencies in their projects.

The winner of the competition was the team with the Nbrand.it concept, which is an application for rapid search of registered trademarks and possibilities of using citations, logs, photographs and other materials. Second place was taken by the group of students who developed the Conntec application, which connects event organisers with visitors and serves for exchanging the broadest range of information. Third place went to the team that created the Helpík application for children in crisis situation. The app offers chat support in the event that a child is afraid to call and would rather write.

CzechInvest was a partner of the event. The head of the agency’s Start-ups Department served on the expert jury.
