The company miomove was named the winner of the Czech national round of the Creative Business Cup competition in Plzeň on 25 September 2018. The firm is the developer of an innovative technology that actively supports users’ lifestyle, analyses running technique and can tell users how to run more effectively. miomove will present its product at the international final of  Creative Business Cup in Copenhagen, Denmark, on 26-27 November 2018.

A total of ten innovative companies participated in the Czech national round of the Creative Business Cup competition on 25 September 2018 at DEPO2015, a former depot of the Plzeň City Transport Company. Other than miomove, the competing firms included Thriftigo, Virtual LAB, 60 seconds, Behavee, Bookcrushes, Actijoy, Aurosa premium beer, Genster and Yieldigo.

“This involves a product that enables us to monitor proper muscle development, body posture and prevention of pain,” says Barbora Malaníková, manager of miomove, describing the company’s product. “Of course, we have some concerns before the international final, but at the same time it’s a challenge. The fact that we advanced to the final shows us that we are going in the right direction,” says Malaníková, commenting on miomove’s chances in Copenhagen.

Creative Business Cup returned to the Czech Republic after a two-year break. The purpose of the competition is not only to bring creative entrepreneurs together with investors, but also to enhance their business skills and to support development of interdisciplinary innovations. More than seventy countries on five continents are involved in this international competition. Supported areas include, for example, design, fashion, architecture, advertising, film, photography, gastronomy, leisure activities, toys, music, radio broadcasting and television, as well as software, computer games and 3D printers.

CzechInvest was the organiser of this year’s Czech national round. The main partners were Oracle NetSuite and Algotech; other partners of the event were Deloitte, Česká spořitelna, the City of Plzeň, Fundlift, the Association of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises and Crafts of the Czech Republic, and Havel & Partners. The media partner was the Roklen24.cz portal. The winner of the first Czech edition of Creative Business Cup in 2016 was Nanits Universe.

“The creative economy can be a decisive competitive advantage that determines whether and how we succeed on global markets in the future. We believe that precisely these new ways of solving problems were shown to us in the Creative Business Cup competition,” says Markéta Havlová, head of the Start-Ups Department at CzechInvest.

Visitors to DEPO2015 experienced not only the final of the Czech round and the awarding of prizes, but also an extensive accompanying programme. They could read comics in a digital interface at the Nanits Universe stand, while RenderWaves demonstrated 3D visualisation, RootyRUG displayed its rugs with roots, Cube Sat gave a presentation of space satellites and Dronet demonstrated a drone.

During the evening, CzechInvest presented CzechLink Start, its new programme for newly formed innovative Czech companies seeking strategic or investment partners. The purpose of CzechLink Start is to facilitate for Czech start-ups contact with foreign and Czech investors and aid the start of their business in terms of capital.
