The Ministry of Industry and Trade and CzechInvest, in cooperation with CzechTrade and with support from the Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Medical Devices, are announcing Digital Promotion 4.0 online competition focused on proposals of digital solutions for the presentation of companies. The aim of the competition is to map and compare existing tools in the area of digital presentation that can be used for the promotion of Czech manufacturers and exporters.

Due to the current situation, Czech industry has very limited possibilities to participate in domestic and foreign trade fairs and business missions, and finding new export opportunities is very difficult. Traditional pro-export tools thus practically ceased to work practically from one day to the next. At a time when it is not possible to rely on personal contact, it is necessary to find modern information technologies that can support the presentation of Czech companies abroad.

“A number of Czech companies have found themselves in a situation where they do not have an effective way to present their products and services and to maintain high-quality B2B and B2C contacts abroad. From the government’s position, we therefore want to help our industry and find a solution that not only covers the current need to represent the usual export channels, but also offers a whole new dimension of promotion in line with the Czech Republic’s national economic motto: The Country for the Future,” says Martina Tauberová, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade for the EU and foreign trade.

The purpose of the Digital Promotion 4.0 competition is to show the kinds of innovative technologies for digital presentation that are currently available on the market and the extent to which those technologies fulfil the actual needs of exporters. Another anticipated step is the creation of a platform that could serve in the future as a comprehensive tool for the presentation of Czech industry as a whole and detailed offers of its individual sectors.

For whom the competition is intended and how to get involved
Participation in the competition is open to everyone who owns and uses an application, technology or other innovation by means of which it is possible to digitally present products and services. “With respect to the time and actual usefulness of the technology, we are not looking for an idea or concept, but rather finished and functional solutions whose potential and practical usability we will be able to assess,” explains Patrik Reichl, CEO of CzechInvest, adding: “The results of the Digital Promotion 4.0 competition will help us to map the utilised technologies, show the possibilities of current solutions and, thanks to that, focus attention in the right direction with the aim of supporting domestic companies in the current restrictive period.”

Potential contestants can enter their digital presentation solutions in the competition from 26 October to 18 November 2020. Consultations on the assignment will be held during this period. Following the end of registration of competing projects, an expert jury will assess the submitted proposals according to pre-determined criteria and select the best solutions, which will advance to the competition final, which will take place virtually in the first half of December. Representatives of leading export companies and associations will help to select the winners.

What the assignment is and what will be assessed
A simple assignment has been prepared for all competition participants. The objective is to present a specific product, namely an incubator from the company TSE, using the participant’s solution and to include this promotion in a digital interface into which it will be possible to add other forms of presentation of the broadest variety of products from domestic products, such as a video presentation and discussion space, as well as the possibility of adding a client and distribution interface. You can find the complete assignment, including the assessment criteria, here.

And according to which criteria will the expert jury assess the solutions? “For us, the top priorities are simplicity and user-friendliness allowing the solution to be deployed in everyday business practice. At the same time, however, we anticipate an overlap with a more comprehensive industry-wide or, as the case may be, nationwide presentation. This goes hand in hand with innovation, the technological level of the solution and the visual impression. The solution that we’re looking for should also be scalable, modifiable and usable in different geographical and technological conditions, all according to individual needs. Of no less importance, it should have a wow effect on the target group and validate the direction taken by the Czech Republic in the area of technological innovation. We are thus acting in accordance with the Innovation Strategy of the Czech Republic 2019-2030, when the situation with the coronavirus is significantly accelerating the introduction of innovations and transfer of technologies,” says Petr Očko, Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade for digitalisation and innovation.

The grand prize is access to potential customers, promotion and a good deed
Several attractive prizes have been prepared for the winner of the Digital Promotion 4.0 competition. All finalists will have a unique opportunity to present their respective products to potential clients – industry organisations, associations, leading export companies and partners in the state administration, all of which are currently looking for tools to support trade, export and presentation of the Czech Republic at home and abroad. The grand prize is an ultra-modern Eleganza 2 smart bed donated to the competition by Linet. The winner will subsequently be able to donate the prize in his/her own name to a selected medical facility.

The partner of the event is the Association of Manufacturers and Suppliers of Medical Devices (AMSMD), whose members also provided, in addition to the grand prize, materials and resources for the formulation of the competition assignment.
“It is a great pleasure for us to take part in this project. Our goal is to find partners for creating a virtual environment that will significantly help us with the presentation of our members’ comprehensive solutions and products in the future. It is very good that, through this project, the state administration is attempting to find a tool that will be usable across sectors,” says Petr Foit, member of the AMSMD board of directors for export and trade.
