The company will invest over 17 million euro. The new location will initially employ around 130 staff. Production is scheduled to start in mid-2007. The first products to roll off the assembly line will be engine cooling modules and components for various passenger car models.
“The fact that we succeeded in developing new industrial zones in the Ostrava region is starting to pay back. Behr is the very fist company coming to the industrial zone in Mosnov. We hold a number of negotiations with other investors and I am convinced that more companies will be coming to the zone soon,” says Tomas Hruda, CEO of CzechInvest.
Behr has been manufacturing products at its facility in Mnichovo Hradiste since 1999, and now employs 700 people there.
Behr is one of the world’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of original equipment for passenger and commercial vehicles. An international workforce of some 18,000 employees coupled with a global network comprising ten development centers and 30 production sites in Europe, North and South America, Asia, and South Africa form the foundations on which Behr has built close partnerships with the international automobile industry. More than a 100 years ago, Julius Fr. Behr, the company’s founder, already recognized the need to offer technologically advanced products. Now, and in the future, the expansion of Behr’s technology leadership remains one of the company’s most important strategic goals.
