The Czech start-up Snuggs won third place in the international final of the Creative Business Cup competition, which took place on 1-2 July 2019 in Copenhagen, Denmark. More than sixty participants from around the world presented their creative ideas to the competition’s expert jury.
In connection with the Snuggs project, Linda Šejdová and Tomáš Zahradník are developing nanofibre menstrual underwear that serves as a full replacement for women’s hygiene products. The project advanced to the world final in Copenhagen from the Czech national round, which took place in Olomouc in March 2019 and was organised by CzechInvest. “Among other things, the jury was impressed by the initiative to support women in Kenya. Snuggs sent the underwear to girls who would have been forced to stay home during their period and thus miss school,” says Natálie Babjuková, a representative of CzechInvest, describing the events in Copenhagen.
Important guests attending the event included, for example, the American entrepreneur Ingrid Vanderveldt, who heads the Empowering a Billion Women by 2020 initiative. The Czech Republic’s ambassador in Denmark, Radek Pech, and representatives of CzechInvest also came to support the event. “These were demanding days packed with presenting, talks and establishing contacts, but we enjoyed it. We’re excited that we did well against such strong competition,” says Linda Šejdová, commenting on her win.
