The traditional Hannover Messe mechanical-engineering trade fair took place in the capital of Lower Saxony in early April. This year’s edition of the event was dominated by the topic of industrial transformation. More than 6,500 firms from around the world presented new developments in industrial production here; five hundred of them exhibited innovative solutions for using artificial intelligence in practice. Robotisation was also a subject of significant attention. With support from Nokia, 5G technology was tested for the first time with practical examples for using it in industry. The event attracted 215,000 visitors, of whom more than 40% came from abroad. The partner country of this this year’s Hannover Messe was Sweden, which was represented by 160 firms.

A roundtable discussion on support for mutual cooperation in the area of Industry 4.0 featured representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic, the Department of Commerce of the United States led by government official Ian Steff, CzechInvest and the Select USA agency, as well as representatives of the private sector, including the Czech firms COMTES FHT, JHV Solutions and Neuron Soundware and the American companies Rockwell Automation and Microsoft. The roundtable participants discussed activities in the area of Industry 4.0, including possible financial support for firms in their efforts to penetrate foreign markets and mutual cooperation. Thirteen Czech firms exhibited in Hannover at the Czech stand organised by CzechTrade. CzechInvest welcomed a delegation of five firms from Australia, which was primarily interested in the situation in Europe in the area of Industry 4.0, digitalisation and automation. CzechInvest’s representative in Germany, Barbora Račan Ježková, presented investment opportunities in the Czech Republic also to other potential investors.

The next edition of Hannover Messe, whose partner country will be Indonesia, will be held from 20 to 24 April 2020.
