On 30 March, the government adopted a resolution extending the period of validity of the measures taken in connection with the prohibition of the free movement of persons until 11 April 2020 and extended the obligation to undergo quarantine to all persons entering the Czech Republic.
All persons who enter the Czech Republic have the obligation to report such fact to their physician, who will order them into quarantine for a period of 14 days. Exemptions from this obligation apply to:
- citizens of the EU and foreigners with a residence permit in the EU who are transiting through the Czech Republic with a note issued by an embassy or consulate (transit and repatriation).
- cross-border workers who cross the border with Germany or Austria for a period longer than 21 days and, at the same time, a period of at least 14 days has elapsed since their last entry into the Czech Republic.
- cross-border workers in the fields of healthcare, social services or the integrated rescue system who regularly cross the border with Germany, Austria, Poland or Slovakia
- cross-border workers crossing the border with Poland or Slovakia.
Mandatory quarantine also relates to workers in the fields of international transport and critical infrastructure maintenance and diplomats if the period of their travel abroad exceeded 21 days or the period of their anticipated stay in the Czech Republic is longer than 21 days.
If necessary, persons to whom mandatory quarantine does not relate must undergo a check for symptoms of infectious disease upon crossing the national border and be cooperative in the taking of a sample for the purpose of testing for Covid-19. Such persons must report any symptoms of flu to their physician without delay. The ban on free movement of persons on the territory of the Czech Republic also applies to such persons with the exception of travel to work or for the purpose of conducting business activities, travel for the purpose of procuring basic necessities of life, travel to healthcare facilities, travel for the purpose of resolving urgent official matters, return travel to one’s place of residence and funerals.
