Scottish All Energy 2018 trade fair focused on renewable sources of energy

The All Energy 2018 energy trade fair took place in Glasgow, Scotland, on 2-3 May 2018. Annually attended by more than 300 exhibitors and 7,000 visitors, the event is one of the biggest trade fairs in the area of renewable sources of energy in Great Britain. A networking breakfast with investors was a new feature of this year’s edition.

The Czech Republic was the only country to have its own national pavilion, which was implemented with support from the Embassy of the Czech Republic in London and the CzechTrade agency. Attendance of the trade fair was supported from the economic diplomacy project of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Czech Republic. CzechInvest participated in the trade fair as an exhibitor together with six Czech firms, namely Hedviga, Simeti, Wikov, Smart Heating Technology, Gentec and Savebox. Hedviga attracted the most attention with its solution for processing plastics. Visitors could see how the process of slow thermal degradation works on a 1:20 scale model. CzechInvest promoted government programmes aimed at supporting green mobility.

The energy sector is attractive in Great Britain with respect to the high priority assigned to it by the Scottish government and the corporate sector. Scotland’s energy strategy calls for coverage of at least 50% of energy needs associated with heating, transport and electricity with renewable sources by 2030. At present, this means doubling the existing capacity of renewable sources. The high priority placed by the government on this issue is further confirmed by the opening address of Scottish First Minister Nicola Sturgeon, who annually attends the trade fair.
