Based on recommendations from the Council of the European Union, the EU countries are divided into three categories according to the level of COVID-19 infection risk, namely red, orange and green categories. The current list of low-risk countries (green group) is available on the website of the Ministry of Health. No restrictions apply to incoming travel from those countries; it is not necessary to fill out a Public Health Passenger Locator Form or undergo PCR tests.

Foreigners travelling to the Czech Republic from orange countries for the purpose of work or study must fill out a Public Health Passenger Locator Form and undergo a PCR test with a negative result prior to entering their workplace or school. An exemption from this obligation applies for Czech citizens – cross-border commuters who are travelling for the purpose of work. No special conditions relate to them upon their return from orange countries.

Foreigners and Czech citizens who are present for more than 12 hours in a red country with a high risk of infection must fill out a Public Health Passenger Locator Form prior to entering the Czech Republic and undergo a PCR test or remain in quarantine after arriving in the Czech Republic. The test result must be submitted to the Regional Public Health Authority within five days.

Detailed information on the conditions of entry is available in the attached table from the Ministry of the Interior of the Czech Republic and on the ministry’s website.

When travelling abroad or when travelling to the Czech Republic from abroad, it is always necessary to pay heed to the rules for entry and transit through all affected countries.
