InnoTrans 2018, the biggest global trade fair of rail vehicles and railway technology, took place at the Messe Berlin exhibition grounds in Germany from 18 to 21 September. The event was attended by more than 160,000 visitors and over three thousand exhibitors from 110 countries, who presented more than 400 innovations, including 155 “world premieres”. In addition to the most various and latest prototypes of rail vehicles, the exhibitors also presented, for example, the revolutionary concept of a virtual junction and a lightweight hybrid bicycle.
Twelve Czech companies exhibited at a joint exposition of the Association of the Czech Railway Industry and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The grand opening of the stand was attended by the highest representatives of the companies and of the government including, for example, the Czech Republic’s ambassador to Germany, Tomáš Jan Podivínský, and Jiří Svoboda, director general of Správa železniční dopravní cesty. Representatives of CzechInvest were also in attendance.
Rail vehicles and locomotives comprised the most attractive part of the Czech exposition. Škoda Transportation unveiled its electric train for Deutsche Bahn. The company’s electric tram, which will operate in the German city of Chemnitz, was also a very popular attraction. CZ LOKO presented its thousandth locomotive produced in the company’s modern history, the EffiShunter 1000, which is intended for shunting and track service. More than eighty other Czech firms exhibited at the trade fair in their own expositions.
