The 32nd edition of the biggest mechanical-engineering trade fair in North America, the International Manufacturing Technology Show (IMTS), took place in Chicago from 10 to 15 September 2018. The event attracted a record-setting crowd of more than 125,000 visitors from 117 countries. Attendees at the McCormick Place convention centre could view the expositions of more than 2,4000 exhibitors. Czech companies were among the firms presenting their latest technologies at IMTS. Representatives of CzechInvest were also present at the event.
The Czechs opened the trade fair at the stand of TOS Varnsdorf, which was also the biggest Czech exhibitor at this year’s IMTS, with the participation of the Bořek Lizec, consul general of the Czech Republic in Chicago, and representatives of CzechInvest, the Association of Engineering Technology and business partners of the company. Other Czech trade-fair participants included the companies Dormer Pramet, Rubena, Pilana Metal and Tajmac-ZPS. On the occasion of this year’s edition of IMTS, a celebratory reception was held on the premises of the Consulate General of the Czech Republic on Tuesday, 11 September 2018.
IMTS highlighted the advanced development of collaborative robots and the applicability of laser technologies in manufacturing. Leading global firms brought their latest products to the event. Sandvik Coromant presented its anti-vibration technology for machine tools, Kawasaki Robotics unveiled its new dual-arm robot and Universal Robots displayed a special line for automation of production in which several collaborative robots are simultaneously involved.
