  • Eleven Czech start-ups are heading to the United States thanks to CzechInvest’s start-up support projects
    • CzechDemo, CzechAccelerator and CzechStarter
  • Eight of the start-ups will exhibit at the TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco trade fair (5-7 September 2018)
  • The start-ups will present themselves to potential investors at Czech Pitching Night on 13 September 2018

The largest number of Czech start-ups supported by CzechInvest to date will come together in San Francisco in September. From 2 to 21 September 2018, eleven Czech start-ups will successively exhibit there. Thanks to its three projects aimed at supporting start-ups – CzechStarter, CzechDemo and CzechAccelerator – CzechInvest has prepared an extensive programme for them.

“The start-ups will exhibit at TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco 2018, attend a number of workshops and more or less formal meetings with the local start-up community, potential partners and Czech entrepreneurs who have already been operating here for several years. At Czech Pitching Night, they will get an opportunity to attract the attention of possible future investors,” says Markéta Havlová, head of the CzechInvest’s Start-ups Department, detailing the September programme for Czech start-ups in San Francisco.

Thanks to the CzechDemo project, six Czech start-ups - Autolift Production, Webscope, Nanits Universe Ltd., Dataddo, MapTiler and Miomove – will attend the TechCrunch Disrupt San Francisco trade fair, which will take place from 5 to September 2018. Their stay there will begin on 2 September 2018 with an informal meeting with the local start-up community at one of San Francisco’s beaches.

Two other start-ups, XLAB and Largos Media, which are starting a three-month acceleration stay at the local US MAC accelerator with support from the CzechAccelerator project, will join them at the trade fair and informal meeting. They will jointly meet with Czech and Slovak entrepreneurs who are already active in Silicon Valley, learn something about the local cultural customs and business environment, and meet with their counterparts from Germany and with John Rizzo, a former product manager at Apple.

Six more start-ups will commence three-month stays in other destinations in connection with the CzechAccelerator project in September. Spaceflow and ApuTime will gain experience in New York, EXPANDO and Hardwario in London, and Engramo group and RCE systems in Singapore.

Four start-ups that have already passed through the seven-month CzechStarter mentoring project in the Czech Republic will attend a series of workshops under the name Silicon Valley Camp. At the BootUP accelerator, Threat Mark, StatusDroid, SuperKodéři and Webscope, which travelled to San Francisco also with support from the CzechDemo project, will be familiarised with, for example, conditions and strategy for entering the American market and the expectations that potential investors have for them.

For several Czech start-ups, the peak of the September stay in San Francisco will be Czech Pitching Night on 13 September 2018, when they will try out presentations of their products and services in front of an audience of experts and a jury from which their potential future investors or business partners may emerge.

CzechInvest’s start-up support projects are implemented within the Marketing Programme, Priority Axis 2 – Development of Business and Competitiveness of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, of the Operational Programme Enterprise and Innovation for Competitiveness.
