A prestigious purchasing forum for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR), a British manufacturer of luxury sports and off-road vehicles, will be held at the Heritage Motor Centre in Gaydon, UK, on 5-6 November 2015. Thanks to CzechInvest and CzechTrade, Czech suppliers will be able to present their products and services during the event. They will thus have a unique opportunity to obtain supply contracts for the prestigious British carmaker, not only in Central and Eastern Europe, but around the world. Production at the new JLR plant should begin in 2018.

“We believe that the purchasing forum in Gaydon will help to connect JLR with Czech suppliers. We want to motivate foreign investors to use the diverse and high-quality supplier network in the Czech Republic and choose Czech firms as their component suppliers. Our team provides interested investors with overviews of the Czech supplier market, seeks out suppliers according to the given investor’s specific requirements and is preparing a comprehensive revision of the supplier database, which covers all main industrial sectors in the Czech Republic, including the automotive industry,” says Michal Mravinač, director of CzechInvest’s London office.

JLR is looking primarily for new local manufacturers with which it has not previously collaborated but which already have experience with other carmakers. The required components include exterior and interior parts as well as chassis, drive and electrical components. The Czech firms participating in the forum are Brisk Tábor, Gumotex, Tawesco, Aisin, Futaba Czech, Karsit and Atek.

“The Sourcing Days purchasing forums are among the most important services that we provide to Czech firms. Each forum requires many hours of work and discussions with our consultants and representatives, who bring forth great value added in the form of mediating the possibility of personal meetings with the people who choose suppliers. Jaguar Land Rover is literally changing before our eyes from a small provincial manufacturer into a global firm, and Czech companies can be a part of that,” adds Radomil Doležal, head of CzechTrade.

The venue of the forum, the Heritage Motor Centre, is a renowned automobile museum presenting the complete history of the British automotive industry, from its glorious beginnings and mass production in the 1960s to its subsequent decline and recent renaissance.
