Experts from three Hong Kong companies focused on the area of cybersecurity visited the Czech Republic from 12 to 16 March 2018. Representatives of AdvSTAR Laboratory, Blockchain Solutions and Certizen were seeking Czech partners for cooperation in the areas of information cybersecurity, the use of blockchain technology, development of cryptocurrencies and electronic identity and protection of critical infrastructure. The delegation visited 12 firms and three universities including, for example, the Czech Technical University in Prague and the companies Cryptelo, CyberGym Europe, Compelson Trade and CZ.NIC.
“The mission uncovered strong potential for cooperation. The Hong Kong firms are very open to that and they are prospective partners for the Czech technological elite. The Czech Republic has something to offer in this field,” says Eva Bartoňová, project manager for research and development at CzechInvest.
The visit was organised by the Consulate General of the Czech Republic in Hong Kong. Together with CzechInvest, the Network Security Monitoring Cluster also took part in the preparations. The expert mission followed a successful technology mission to Hong Kong and Shenzhen carried out last year under CzechInvest’s leadership and in cooperation with the Consulate General in Hong Kong with the aim of bringing Czech researchers and innovative firms together with partners in the IT area.
The Hong Kong firms’ mission was only one of the activities in which CzechInvest was involved in March 2018. The Czech Republic was also visited by specialists in autonomous control (delegation from the United States), aviation (delegation from Canada) and smart cities (delegation from the United States).
