CzechInvest co-organises investment roadshow in South Korea

An investment roadshow comprising a series of seminars for potential investors and business partners took place in South Korea from 12 to 14 October. The event was organised by the Embassy of the Czech Republic in the Republic of Korea in cooperation with CzechInvest’s office in Seoul and was held under the auspices of Ambassador J. E. Tomáš Husák. The objective of the seminars, which were attended by 150 representatives of companies, sectoral associations and research institutes, was to present the Czech Republic as an ideal location for investment and business development.

Those actively participating in the seminars included representatives of CzechInvest, whereas the director of the agency’s South Korean office and its sector manager respectively gave presentations on how to do business and develop business opportunities in the Czech Republic and on the topic of industrial sectors in the Czech Republic. The head of the commercial section of the Czech embassy, Květoslav Sulek, spoke about the country’s current economic situation. The acquisition of the Czech brand Pilsner Urquell, which is successful in South Korea, was presented in a case study by the regional manager of SAB Miller, Raymond Stark.

Participants expressed interest in investment opportunities and cooperation in numerous other areas, including research and development. The roadshow made it possible for representatives of CzechInvest to succeed in establishing contacts with new potential investors. Thanks to the agency’s presentations, interested parties had the opportunity to learn more about academic laboratories and possibilities of cooperation focused on the commercialisation of inventions. Significant attention was focused on the Pilsner Urquell brand, as Czech beer is becoming increasingly popular and is thus substantially raising awareness of the Czech Republic. For importing Pilsner Urquell into South Korea, Raymond Stark therefore received from the Czech embassy an honorary medal of merit for promotion of the Czech Republic abroad during the seminar in Busan.
