The Czech Republic was presented as a favourable destination for software companies at unBound Digital, an international technology conference held in Great Britain. CzechInvest, the Czech ICT Alliance and Czech start-ups prepared a seminar on Czech digital business for foreign investors in London. Yossi Vardi, ICQ’s founding investor, appeared at the Czech pavilion to personally open the seminar.
The unBound Digital conference, which took place on 25 November 2014, presented the latest trends in the commercial digital world and offered technology firms the opportunity to connect with investors, international corporations and entrepreneurs in various sectors.
“We received several enquiries regarding expansion to the Czech Republic,” says Michal Mravinač, CzechInvest’s representative in Great Britain.
“Global corporations, such as Deutsche Telekom, have shown interest in Czech start-ups’ technologies. This would not have happened without participation in such international events,” adds Michal Zálešák, director of the Czech ICT Alliance.
The Czech Republic possesses high-quality technology infrastructure and a relevant tradition in the field of research and development. In recent years, the country has managed to attract some major investors in the area of digital technology including, for example, Microsoft, IBM, Tieto and Red Hat, which recently opened its biggest development centre in Brno. “Much more can be built on these foundations,” adds Mravinač.
This year’s conference at London’s Vinopolis was attended by nearly one thousand entrepreneurs, investors and start-ups. Czech participation involved seven successful Czech start-up companies: Infivision, INVEA-TECH, TrustPort, Railsformers, storyous.com, Usertech and Ki-Wi Digital, whose application for seniors had a few days previously earned it the Business Project of the Year award from CzechInvest and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. Ki-Wi Digital’s cofounder, Petr Adamík, appeared in the main programme of the conference in connection with the Global Showcase panel discussion.
