Another Japanese automotive investor, Tsubakimoto Chain Co., is coming to the Kolín – Ovčáry industrial zone. The company is investing CZK 440 million in production of timing systems for automobile engines and will employ up to 80 people from Kolín and the Central Bohemia region. Construction of the new factory in the Kolín – Ovčáry industrial zone will begin next year, with the start of production planned for 2017.
“I am pleased that Tsubakimoto Chain Co. selected the Czech Republic for its expansion in Europe and will bring new jobs to Kolín. This confirms the fact that Japanese investors are successful in the Czech Republic and their experience here is having a positive impact on the inflow of new investments,” says Minister of Industry and Trade Jan Mládek.
“Japanese investors have traditionally appreciated the Czech Republic as one of the best investment locations in Europe, particularly for developmentally-productive investments. Currently also appreciate very friendly approach of the government and authorities to invest. I can confirm that the company Tsubakimoto plans to build a plant in Kolín and applied for investment incentives in the form of rebates on income tax,” says Karel Kučera, CEO of CzechInvest. “During its time in existence, CzechInvest has mediated 124 investment projects from Japan, which have brought about the creation of nearly 29,000 jobs. Tsubakimoto Chain Co. will be the fourth Japanese investor to choose the Kolín – Ovčáry strategic industrial zone.”
“The quality of the land plot, the helpful approach from the city Kolín, which is the owner of the plots in the industrial zone, and – of no less importance – the experience of other Japanese firms operating in the Czech Republic are the main reasons why we decided to start our expansion to markets in Central and Eastern Europe right here in the Czech Republic,” Bart Mellink, COO of Tsubakimoto UK Ltd.
Tsubakimoto Chain Co. is a global leader in the manufacturing of timing systems for the automotive industry. The company has its European headquarters in Dordrecht, Netherlands, and subsidiaries in Great Britain and Germany. It is preparing to construct a manufacturing facility on a four-hectare site in Kolín for production of timing chains, guide bars and plastic components. The company has already applied for investment incentives via CzechInvest. Besides the Czech Republic, Slovakia also made a serious attempt to obtain the investment.
