On Friday, 25 September 2020, representatives of the carmaker TPCA handed over three vehicles from its production to firefighters, police officers and the city of Kolín. All three cars will serve to increase safety in the region and in social services, i.e. those who are helping the most at this time. This is not the first time TPCA has provided assistance during the coronavirus pandemic, as the company previously provided protective equipment such as face masks and respirators as well as funding for the purchase thereof to several municipalities in the region.

The Citroën C1 will be used to help senior citizens by, for example, facilitating transport to the doctor. Employees of the Municipal Social and Health Services will be able to respond more flexibly to the needs of the elderly and disabled. The Toyota Aygo, which is fully equipped with light and sound warning devices, will serve police officers in crime prevention throughout the Central Bohemia region. The orange Peugeot 108 will be used by firefighters when intervening in extraordinary situations. It will be used mainly by firefighters at the Ovčáry Industrial Zone, who last year expanded their vehicle fleet with a water tender in the same colour.

TPCA Toyota Peugeot Citroën Automobile is a joint venture of Toyota Motor Corporation and PSA Group. Production at the factory built in 2002 in the Kolín – Ovčáry Industrial Zone began in February 2005. TPCA currently employs 2,400 people and the company is one of the largest exporters in the Czech Republic. It currently produces the Toyota Aygo, Peugeot 108 and Citroën C1 models.

The factory worth CZK 26 billion was in its time the largest investment implemented in the Czech Republic. CzechInvest assisted with bringing the investment to the country and also administrated investment incentives for the investor. TPCA is currently cooperating with CzechInvest in the area of AfterCare services for investors, for example in employing foreign workers and in finding a way to mitigate the Kolín plant’s impact on the environment.
