Investment Incentives

Investment Incentives

Act No. 72/2000 Coll., on Investment Incentives, valid as of September 6, 2019.

On September 6, 2019, the amended Act on investment incentives came into effect. The main change involves the preferential treatment of projects with higher value added, particularly technology centres, which will newly be able to obtain cash grants for job creation and training and retraining of new employees in all regions of the Czech Republic with the exception of Prague. A further change is the adjustment of eligibility criteria for granting incentives to small and medium-sized enterprises which are reduced by one-half.

It is also necessary to mention the fact that all investment-incentive applications are newly assessed and approved by the government, which particularly take into consideration the given project’s benefits for the region and for the country. This means in practice that all investment-incentive applications must contain a detailed quantification of the anticipated contributions to public budgets and the given investment’s impact on the labour market. In addition to that, applicants must also describe the means by which they intend to incorporate research and development into their activities and collaborate with research institutes and schools, as well as how they will use the potential of local suppliers and contribute to the development of the local infrastructure.

The application for incentives shall be submitted in the Czech language. You can find the application documents here.
