HARDWARIO, Whalebone, StatusDroid and ROI Hunter are the selected projects within CzechInvest’s CzechAccelerator programme that travelled in mid-April to London, where they are attempting to expand their business to one of the biggest markets in Europe.
The start-ups are being supported in London by the local partner Impact Hub King’s Cross, which mediates contact with mentors and consulting firms and organises thematic workshops. Over the course of three months, the firms can thus gain experience, which would be difficult without external assistance. Among other things, the acceleration programme also includes discounted entry to networking events, payment of most of the costs associated with preparation and production of marketing materials and partial payment of the costs connected with travelling to the destination.
In the first week, the start-ups selected a mentor, attended the initial workshops and presented their projects to the expert public during a kick-off event at the Czech embassy, part of which comprised a panel discussion on the topic of experience with expansion to the British market featuring representatives of the companies STRV, IQRF Aliance and Adamapp. “There is increasing interest in the programme in London. Great Britain is a leader in technological trends in Europe. The greatest concentration of venture capital is found here and the British government provides numerous forms of tax relief. I believe that, thanks also to CzechAccelerator, the Czech footprint in London will grow,” says Lucie Botha, CzechInvest’s representative in London.
